Houses around Odd Down

The core strategy is document that decides where houses are built in B&NES. The next stage is a public meeting chaired by an inspector nominated by the government. His decision is binding on the council. We will be putting forward thoughts to the inspector.

Submission of the Bath & North East Somerset Core Strategy

I am writing to inform you that the Council has submitted its Core Strategy and associated documents to the Secretary of State on 3rd May 2011 for independent examination.

All submission documents are available to view on the Council’s website at, and at the following Council offices on Mondays –Thursdays (9.00am – 5.00pm), Fridays (9.00am - 4.30pm):

- The Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW;

- The Hollies, Midsomer Norton, Bath, BA3 2DP;

- Riverside, Temple Street, Keynsham, Bristol, BS31 1LA

and, at all public libraries in the District, including the mobile libraries, during opening hours.

Simon Emerson BSc DipTP MRTPI is the Inspector appointed to conduct the examination to determine whether the Core Strategy is sound and it is anticipated that the hearings will take place in September 2011. The Programme Officer, Chris Banks, will act as the contact point for any person who has made representations on the Draft Core Strategy, and as a liaison between the Inspector, the Council and examination participants.

Copies of the representations on the Draft Core Strategy are available to be viewed at the Guildhall, Bath and a schedule of the representations can also be viewed on the Council’s website. The Council’s initial responses to issues raised through the representations have been forwarded to the Inspector and are included in the Regulation 30(1)(e) Statement available at the above locations and the Council’s website.
