Formal Consultation on Opening a Sixth Form at St Gregory’s: 6 Dec 2010 – 10 Jan 2011
In September 2009, the governing body of St Gregory’s conducted a consultation on a proposal to open a sixth form. The proposal was prompted by parental demand and Government policy which encouraged outstanding schools to expand and spread their ethos by opening sixth forms. A comprehensive consultation exercise was carried out between 1 September and 21 October 2009. A summary of the evidence from the consultation was presented to the governing body on 5 November 2009. There was clear support for the proposal from parents, staff, students, primary partners and the local authority. The Trustees of Clifton Diocese welcomed the consultation process and recognised that large numbers of students in the Diocese do not access any kind of Catholic Christian provision post-16. The governing body voted unanimously to proceed with the proposal. (The original consultation document and a summary of the evidence presented to governors can be found on the College website www.st-gregorys.bathnes.sch.uk under Sixth Form Consultation).
